Dr. Carter Loftin

Dr. Carter Loftin

Veterinarian

Dr. Carter Loftin was born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana where he grew up with many different pets over the years. After high school, he moved to Baton Rouge to accomplish his childhood goal of becoming an LSU tiger. Dr. Loftin received a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from LSU in 2014 and decided he wanted to continue his education at the great university so he immediately began applying to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. While applying to veterinary school, Dr. Loftin spent his time working for a local dog adoption organization, Friends of the Animals, and working as an animal care coordinator at another local small animal veterinary hospital. Dr. Loftin was accepted to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 and he continued his focus on companion animal medicine. Following his graduation from LSU SVM with honors in May of 2019, Dr. Loftin and his wife moved to Pensacola, Florida. They then moved back to Louisiana and worked as an Emergency Veterinarian in New Orleans before ultimately deciding he wanted to be back in Baton Rouge.

He enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine but some of his favorites include Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Preventative Medicine, Shelter Medicine, and Dentistry.

When he isn’t working, Dr. Loftin loves spending time outdoors with his lovely wife, Melissa, and their three handsome dogs, Blue, Maverick, and Tank. As a two-time graduate of the university, Dr. Loftin is a very passionate LSU sports fan and loves spending his Saturdays in Tiger Stadium. He is also an avid soccer fan and follows both local and European soccer leagues very closely.
