Dr. George "Bud" Smith III
Veterinarian / Practice Owner
George L. Smith III, also known to his clients as “Bud” or “Doc,” is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Smith is a graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has worked as a veterinarian for 24 years. Dr. Smith has dedicated his life to providing high-quality and compassionate care to pets and their owners in the Baton Rouge community for 21 years. He has been married to his lovely wife, Mary Lynn, for 30 years, and they have two wonderful daughters, Laura Catherine and Sarah Grace. He has a few other additions to the family: a cat named Oliver and a Golden Retriever named Rosie (who are very spoiled). Dr. Smith enjoys spending time in the outdoors, especially at “the farm” on his tractor.
Dr. Bob Apple
Dr. Robert Apple is a native of Dardanelle, Arkansas and attended the University of Arkansas for his undergraduate education in the fall of 1978 to the spring of 1981. Dr. Apple earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 1985. He has owned several veterinary hospitals in the Baton Rouge and Denham Springs areas and practiced veterinary medicine, including emergency and critical care, for the last 34 years. He and his wife, Jayne Apple, CPA, of Apple Guerin and Company, have been married for 34 years and have two sons, Robby Apple, CPA, and Brian Apple, CPE, who also live in Baton Rouge. Dr. Apple also has three Deutsch-Drahthaar dogs and enjoys training and hunting with Ada, Maddie, and Ella. Dr. Apple is an avid outdoorsman and also enjoys golf, fishing, and time with family.
Dr. Allison Gordon
Dr. Allison Gordon was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. She now lives in Baton Rouge with her five rambunctious dogs: Macie, Ani, Roux, Pup Pup, and Ciara. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in zoology from Louisiana State University and went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Baton Rouge Veterinary Medical Association. She has special veterinary interests in small animal medicine and surgery, dermatology, small animal rehabilitative medicine, and ultrasonography. Dr. Gordon enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, running, reading a good book, listening to music, and going to the movies.
Laura Catherine has grown up around Bocage Animal Hospital. As a veterinarian’s daughter, compassion for animals has always come as second nature to her. She graduated from LSU in 2017 with a degree in animal science with a concentration in technology. Currently, she is enjoying her time at the clinic and plans to stay with her Bocage family as long as possible! She has one cat, Kit, and four dogs, Rock, Benelli, Hazel, and Ranger.
Sara joined our team in February 2019. She is a resident of Denham Springs. She is also a member of the Live Oak Methodist Church in Watson, LA. She has a daughter, Brooklin, and a stepson, Linkin. Her breed of choice is Basset Hounds! She has two dogs: Bandit, a Basset mix, and Zoey, a Catahoula mix. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to church and church activities, reading, catching up on TV shows and movies, and of course, sleeping. She has over 10 years of experience working with animals in a veterinary environment. She has a great love and passion for animals and her job. Her favorite part about her job is to educate the owners about the best health care for their pets.
Vanessa was born and raised in Denham Springs. She has always had a deeply rooted love and compassion for animals and decided to make it a career. She is a mother to two beautiful girls, Capri and Naomi, and two fur babies, Blaze and Sadie. Vanessa has 10 years of experience being a vet tech. She is very excited to care for any animal that comes into the clinic, but her “favorite” patients are the older babies!
Erin Fontenot grew up in Ville Platte, Louisiana, where her love for animals started on her family farm. She moved to Baton Rouge and is currently a sophomore at LSU and pursuing a degree in biological sciences. She hopes to one day attend Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and get a degree for equine veterinary medicine. Erin has two Dachshunds, Blue and Marley, and a cat named Ferb.
Sarah Grace was born and raised in Baton Rouge. She has always had a passion for animal health care since she has grown up around Bocage Animal Hospital. She is currently a freshman at Louisiana State University, majoring in animal science (pre-vet). Sarah Grace has one cat, Mimou, and one dog, Bluto. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her friends and family, going to the movies, going to the gym, and cuddling with Mimou and Bluto.
Macy was born and raised in Baton Rouge. She attended LSU, where she studied psychology and was a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland and the Colorguard. Macy has over four years of experience working in a veterinary hospital. She loves all critters and has two dogs (Rona and Redman) and one chunky cat (Romeo). When she has free time, you can usually find her at her camp in Mississippi or on the couch with her fur babies.
Genesis was born and raised in Plaquemine. Her love for animals guided her to pursue a career in animal health care. She is currently a freshman at BRCC, majoring in veterinary technology. She has a ball python, a crested gecko, and a cat named Aggy. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, and watching movies.
